GHANA ADJUDGED BEST STAND AT FITUR FAIR, SPAIN

Ghana’s flag has been lifted high at the 44th edition of the Fitur Fair Global International Tourism Fair in Madrid, Spain as GTA was adjudged the best stand among 26 African countries.

The Ghana Tourism Authority used the iconic Larabanga Mosque as a brand stand for Ghana at the 2024 Fitur Fair Exhibition which was organised at the IFEMA MADRID Exhibition Centre, Spain.

The Larabanga Mosque is an authentic Sudanese African Architecture, a symbol of strength and resilience, and the use of symbolism as a brand communication made Ghana’s stand unique and authentic to win first place. 

About 153, 000 visitors across the globe participated in this year’s fair from 24th January to 28th January, 2024; this surpassed the estimated number of 150,000 attendees which was 12% increase over 2022 attendees indicating a complete recovery of the tourism sector from the Covid 19 pandemic.

GTA participates in international fairs and exhibitions to market the country internationally as part of the Authority’s core mandate.

Fitur Fair is amongst the leading Global International Tourism Fairs dedicated to professionals in the tourism value chain. It is organised every year at IFEMA MADRID Exhibition Centre.

The team was led by the Hon. Minister of Tourism, Arts and Culture, Hon. Dr. Ibrahim Mohammed Awal, the Ghana Tourism Authority was represented by; Deputy Chief Executive Officer in Charge of Operations, Mr. Ekow Sampson, Deputy Marketing Director, Ms. Dorothy Boakye whilst the private sector was represented by the CEO of Ashanti African Tours, Mr. Mark Williams.
